We are currently looking for a talented and experienced Senior Transport Modeller to join our transport modelling team in our London or Birmingham offices. In this role, you will support or lead the delivery of a wide variety of projects within a thriving multidisciplinary transport planning business unit for several key clients. Our activities range from strategic multi-modal modelling, data analytics, bespoke analysis tool development and microsimulation modelling. We support transport appraisal and business case development through feasibility study to implementation.
We’re seeking candidates who are proven transport modellers, with strong data analysis, automation and visualisation skills who pride themselves on high quality project delivery and are confident in a client facing role.
What does the role involve?
- Development and application of new and existing strategic transport models
- Providing support and training in transport modelling to junior colleagues
- Working within, and leading project teams, ensuring quality deliverables to agreed timescales and budget
- Communicating and collaborating clearly and effectively with stakeholders and clients
- Producing documents and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences
- Delivery of data analysis and visualisation using automation and scripting
To be successful in this role you’ll be required to demonstrate the following professional qualities:
- Master's or Bachelor's in relevant degree (e.g. Maths / Physics / Data Science / Transport Planning / Geography etc) or equivalent industry experience - essential
- Have working knowledge of strategic multi-modal transport modelling software packages such as VISUM, CUBE, EMME, SATURN - essential
- Have a thorough understanding of the tools and principles of strategic transport modelling and relevant guidance (TAG, TEMPro, TAG Databook etc) - essential
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to work in multiple projects simultaneously - essential
- Data visualisation and dashboard production using applications such as Power BI and ArcGIS - essential
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to suit your audience - essential
- Writing reports in clear English and presenting the results to non-technical audiences - essential
- Have the ability to manage project delivery of several small to medium sized transport modelling projects
- Experience in programming languages like Python, R, C++ - desirable
- Have working knowledge of microsimulation modelling software packages such as VISSIM, Paramics, Aimsun - desirable
- Knowledge of transport appraisal and associated software is desirable (TUBA, COBALT, WITA etc) - desirable
- Experience in proposal submissions, work winning, and business development - desirable
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIHT, TPS) working towards chartership - essential
