Sweco Building Control are the leading Building Control consultancy in England and Wales, providing market-leading expertise as a Registered Building Control Approver since 1998. We pride ourselves on our quality and technical expertise that underpins our full suite of Building Control services, our approach is to listen and engage with our clients to anticipate the regulatory issues that will need resolving and work in partnership to deliver a successful project.
Sweco are currently looking for a motivated Principal Building Control Surveyor to join our highly successful team. The role is based in our Bristol office but we operate a hybrid model which for us means typically 3 days in the office or on site and 2 days at home (depending on the need for site visits/clients meetings).
What does the role involve?
- Undertaking plan checks submitted for Building Regulation approval.
- Undertaking site visits, preparing site visit reports, witnessing tests (therefore a full, valid driving licence is essential).
- Attending client and design team meetings to give professional advice regarding building control work.
- Be familiar with and use the management systems, including complying with the Quality Management system.
- Operating in accordance with the commercial requirements of the projects (costs and programme).
To be successful in this role you’ll have a MRICS, MCABE or MCIOB qualification (or be working towards) and have experience in a similar role. You’ll need to be able to register as a Class 2 General Building Inspector. Excellent communication skills are essential, both written and verbal, alongside the ability to develop the business by introducing new clients and expanding the workload.
