Hydrogeologist – Groundwater team in Bristol. Flexible work: minimum 3 days per week in the office, with adjustable start and finish times.

What does the role involve? Working within a team environment, you’ll utilise your technical expertise to provide a multi‑disciplinary consultancy service for Sweco’s clients on groundwater projects, including aquifer development, management and protection for public and private water supply, EIA and construction support for major infrastructure schemes and local developments. You will carry out fieldwork, calculations, and prep of drawings, sketches and reports, investigate within agreed timeframes, budgets and client expectations, and develop services within existing clients and cultivate new ones.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A BSc and preferably either a MSc or PhD in hydrogeology or a closely related discipline.
  • The desire to work towards achieving chartered membership with a relevant professional body such as the Geological Society or CIWEM.
  • Relevant professional experience of no less than 3 years, primarily in water resources hydrogeology, engineering hydrogeology (including dewatering) and environmental impact assessment.
  • Experience in borehole construction, rehabilitation, testing and abandonment is beneficial.
  • The ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members, contractors and clients.
  • The ability to produce well‑structured reports in clear English, and to critically review reports produced by others.
  • The ability to maintain good links within the wider groundwater community to enhance technical knowledge, and to build and maintain contacts that may provide opportunities for collaboration or business development.
