We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Assistant Civil Engineer to work as part of a multi-disciplinary department providing detailed designs for water related projects in the UK. This role can be worked flexibly with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office and the option of adjusted start and finish times. Our Leeds office is relocating to Leeds City Centre mid 2026.

You’ll join a growing team of Engineers working together towards the best client outcomes. We are looking for individuals who can challenge conventional thinking and work collaboratively to meet a wide range of business, environment and regulatory challenges for these clients. The role offers an opportunity for successful candidates to broaden and diversify their expertise.
What does the role involve?
- Working within our water team on multi-disciplinary projects, you will act as an Assistant Engineer, supporting with developing design solutions, co-ordinating with other disciplines to deliver innovative outcomes to protect people and the environment.
- You will be involved in projects from outline design to completion including:
- Developing calculations, drawings, sketches and reports to achieve the optimum solution for the project;
- Assessing, documenting and communicating design changes to the Lead Design Engineer/Project Manager;
- Being aware of scope requirements and taking personal responsibility in delivering to agreed time, cost and quality;
- Developing an in-depth knowledge of the water industry its challenges and how to address them.
- Growing your skills knowledge and experience of engineering in the water sector and working towards professional accreditation.
What we’re looking for from you:
- An academic qualification in a related field, such as a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Strong interpersonal/team working skills, with the ability to develop a good working relationship with all levels of the organisation, clients and contractors together with the capability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner both verbally and written.
- Knowledge and experience of water and wastewater design including conveyance and treatment.
- An understanding of the basics and the integration of multidisciplinary elements including process engineering and MEICA.
- An understanding of design, contract and tender preparation, tender assessment and contract administration.
