We are seeking a highly skilled, self‑motivated Principal Security Engineer to work within our Mission Critical Security and Telecoms team. The role focuses on mission‑critical environments and critical national infrastructure with an emphasis on datacentre design. It is based in London, with consideration for candidates in Manchester or Leeds, and can be worked flexibly with a minimum of three days per week on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead security design projects from start to finish, managing project timescales and deliveries to ensure successful delivery.
  • Develop and deploy the Sweco security design standards, customising to client‑specific requirements.
  • Complete and maintain project TIDPs, MIDPs, DALs, DDLs, risk registers and other project‑related document repositories.
  • Produce design drawings, schematics and installation details to industry/client standards, ensuring alignment with engineering requirements.
  • Align deliveries to project/workstage/client‑specific level of detail requirements.
  • Deliver fully coordinated models working in conjunction with other multi‑discipline teams.
  • Attend/lead discipline‑specific security workshops with other key disciplines in attendance.
  • Capture and develop project‑specific COBie data requirements in collaboration with our BIM team.
  • Attend design team meetings and document key decisions/deviations.
  • Remain up to date on latest industry developments.
  • Assist in the development of key automations to drive efficiency and demonstrate cost savings.
  • Input into client fee proposals.
  • Provide team support, share technical knowledge, and contribute to internal meetings.
  • Grow, develop and nurture other team members to support and assist with project delivery.
  • Meet all project deadlines and contribute to project profitability.
  • Prioritise tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and expense reports.
  • Attend client and industry events.

Key Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in the design of physical and electronic security, including:
    • Electronic Security Design
      • Access Control System
      • Video Surveillance System
      • Perimeter Intrusion Detection System
      • Intruder Detection System
      • Intercommunication System
      • Key Management System
    • Physical Security Design
      • Site perimeter physical security, fencing, gates, barriers
      • Hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM)
      • Intercom/access control pedestal locations
      • Camera pole locations
      • Security gatehouses, vehicle entry/exit locations, entry/exit lanes
      • Barriers, gates, bollards, rejection lanes
      • Security door ratings/requirements, blast and ballistic resistance
      • Airlocks, mantraps, building layout spatial coordination of security spaces
      • Security operation centres (SOC), network operation centres (NOC)
      • Security reception and manager offices, security gatehouses
    • High proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD (Revit knowledge advantageous).
    • High proficiency in Autodesk Forma (formerly ACC).
    • High proficiency in PDF editing suite (e.g., Bluebeam Studio).
    • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • High proficiency with Google Workspace.
