The Role

  • Manage a national portfolio of retail property leases
  • Develop and maintain an exceptional network of industry contacts aligned with each brand's retail strategy
  • Monitor existing leases, critical dates and property‑related risks and opportunities
  • Propose initiatives or actions to ensure that rent/sales ratio is maintained at acceptable levels
  • Support renovations, relocations and closures from a property and leasing perspective
  • Secure retail locations and negotiate leases within required strategic, commercial and legal parameters
  • Support the delivery of new projects, including approvals, lease execution and site handovers
  • Contribute to retail expansion initiatives including Auckland
  • Routine market visits to discover retail opportunities and remain abreast of market insights

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience managing a property portfolio and facilities team for a multinational company, or as a leasing manager for a national retailer or shopping centre
  • Strong knowledge of Australia's premium and luxury retail precincts, including high streets and shopping centres
  • Good knowledge of Auckland's premium and luxury retail precincts, including high streets and shopping centres
  • Established network and strong relationships with landlords and leasing managers preferred
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and customer service skills
  • Proactive and innovative, with the ability to develop new ideas and solutions
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and perform effectively under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Sound business acumen, organisational and analytical skills
  • Understanding of the full retail property lifecycle, including openings, refurbishments, operations and closures
