The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Education team to prepare, organise and deliver a wide range of in‑service training. To support the Learning & Development team to deliver the training plans designed to systematically increase the ability, skills and knowledge of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) staff. The individual will have a proven track record of positive and effective training, and mentoring skills to support staff and demonstrate a range of learning styles, and requirements for support. Experience of working in the dispatch environment is desirable.

Main duties of the job

Carry out training, coaching and mentoring duties as required by the Education Team Leader (EOCs).

Help to prepare, organise and deliver a wide range of in‑service training for EOC staff. Systematically increase the ability, skills and knowledge of EOC staff by providing carefully planned opportunities for development in accordance with personal development plans, and the EOC training strategy.

Support the monitoring of staff performance in all respects of their EOC duties. Identify staff skills gaps and provide individual training and coaching to bring about improvements in personal performance.

Support staff with individual coaching and support to help them reach and maintain the Trust's Quality and Performance targets.

Support the Education team to ensure workplace induction for new staff is provided, so that they are aware of all appropriate procedures, policies and information necessary to carry out their role effectively, efficiently, and safely. Proposing changes to EOC policies and working practices through the appropriate forum where the postholder identifies an area of concern.

Supervise induction groups (normally 12 students), development day sessions, and any bespoke workshops required to facilitate the delivery of education to the EOC staff.

Person Specification

  • AET (Award in Education & Training) or working towards a recognised training qualification or equivalent experience
  • 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language and Maths or equivalent
  • MPDS Instructor
  • Pathways Instructor
  • Training Qualification
  • Assessor Qualification
  • Experience working in the EOC Environment
  • Supervisory experience
  • Training or coaching experience
