There has never been a better time to join the Trust's Supply and Delivery Service in the new role of Deputy Regional Supply and Delivery Manager which will be based at our Bristol storage and distribution site as we enter an exciting period of transformation with the implementation of a new inventory management system and providing the distribution solution for a new medicines bag repacking service.

The role will be managing and co-coordinating the day-to-day operation of the Bristol based logistics team and providing them with strong leadership and supporting the team in providing the storage and distribution of medical consumables and medicines across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the North Somerset and Bristol area. The role will also lead in the effective delivery of a high-quality logistics service which is capable of flexing to meet the changing demands of the service, whilst maintaining operations within budget and financial governance requirements.

We are looking for a committed and motivated person with logistics experience to support the Regional Supply and Delivery Manager in developing future strategies for improved efficiencies within the current distribution model. They will provide highly visible, positive and inspirational leadership to the team as we adapt to the changing needs of the operation to enable our front-line colleagues to provide quality care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

The Deputy Regional Supply & Delivery (S&D) Manager will provide overall leadership and management to the Trust's Supply and Delivery function based at Emerald Park, Bristol and also supporting our southern operation based at Skypark, Exeter. The role will support the Regional Supply and Delivery Manager in providing oversight to associated delivery plans, ensuring effective financial management and service development.

You will provide operational level management to the team, including staff welfare and health and wellbeing, management of sickness absence and other abstractions and the delivery of compassionate leadership in line with the Trust Strategic Goals as well as Trust values and behaviours.

Ensuring Supply & Delivery service standards are provided to the highest levels through supervision and management of S&D resources, ensuring they are efficient and effective and stay within budgetary and Health & Safety parameters. This role will require a hands on approach working closely with the Regional Supply and Delivery Manager to ensure service and performance expectations are met and will include the need for some travel within the geographical footprint of the Trust.

Person Specification
  • Degree level qualifications or equivalent
  • Specialist knowledge of supply chain systems
  • Full UK driving license held for at least one year with no more than six penalty points
  • Health and Safety qualification or prepared to work towards
  • Management or Leadership Qualification to diploma level
Experience
  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Significant experience of warehousing, logistics of healthcare activities.
  • Demonstrable ability to analyse problems and provide effective solutions.
  • Previous NHS leadership experience.
Skills, knowledge, ability
  • Able to demonstrate effective leadership and managing from distance, able to interpret KPI's and remedy deficiencies.
  • Experience of undertaking audits and implementation of compliance processes.
