The Bournemouth Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) role is a 12-month secondment to provide cover for a corresponding 12-month career break. The role is externally funded by NHSE through the student tariff and has been established for several years.

It is a critical position that provides the key link between SWASFT Practice Educators and Bournemouth University students and staff, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and support across both organisations. This is evidenced in the improvement of the NHSE National Education & Training Surveyscores from 2023, 2024 - 2025 which forms part of the Trusts key metrics.

Given the nature of the role, it is highly advantageous for the postholder to have a well-developed understanding of SWASFT operations within the local area, alongside established relationships with key teams. Existing familiarity with the education pathway and local networks would significantly enhance continuity, enable immediate effectiveness in the role, and support the ongoing delivery of a high-quality experience for both students and staff.

Main duties of the job

• Review student feedbackfrom National Education and Training Surveywhich inform widerstudent satisfaction and share with the departmental managers to celebrategood feedbackand address any concerns arising, escalating whereappropriate.

Engage in work streams that meet National priorities and challenges as directed by line managers

Partake inHEE/HEI and organisational meetings to gain wider understanding and knowledge ofsystem basedworking and priorities

Higher EducationalInstitutions

Liaise with the HEIs in relation to clinical and non-clinical curriculum skills development encompassingskills and competencies which need to be achieved on placement

To attend meetings in both academic and healthcare settings to strengthen mentoring and student support processes. Taking forward actions in conjunction with relevant managers and departments.

To attend events at HEI's which will give opportunity to promoteSWASfTas a placement provider for academic programs in Paramedic Science and future AHP, nursing andmidwiferypotential.

Review student feedbackin collaboration with the HEI academic teamswhich inform student satisfaction and that of the departments in which students are being placed and share with the departmental managers to celebrategood feedbackand address any concerns arising, escalating whereappropriate.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications

• Relevant BSc (Hons) degree or equivalent such as an apprenticeship or diploma and working towards a relevant post-graduate level qualification such as MSc
• Mentorship level 7 or working towards.
• Award in Education and Training or higher or working towards
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• Able to meet the knowledge and skills framework for the role
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel across the Trust as required
• Substantial experience in an Ambulance Service or equivalent.
• Management or Clinical Leadership qualification

Previous experience (Paid/Unpaid relevant to job)

• Knowledge and experience of working in a healthcare setting as an AHP or other equivalent experience.
• Knowledge and experience of working with higher education institutions and the requirements for learners in the working environment.
• In depth knowledge and experience in own professional field and willingness to develop knowledge of other professions
• Experience and knowledge of principles of teaching and learning.
• Experience of delivering project work and identifying improvement initiatives.
• Used to working on own initiative and discretion, with a degree of autonomy
• Capacity to deal with changing parameters and demands
• Experience of dealing with staff at all levels.
• Experience of liaison with external stakeholders and institutions
• Evidence of participation in service improvement initiatives
• Previous experience working within a healthcare setting
• Previous experience working in practice placement education
• Proven experience and skills in leading on projects in a complex organisation requiring high level of collaboration and motivation of others.
• Knowledge of professional requirements related to supporting AHP learners in practice i.e. from HCPC, and professional bodies
