What you will do
We have a vacancy for an Electronics Product Support Engineer – joining our team in Melsonby (DL10). As products progress through their lifecycle, components may become obsolete or difficult to source. In this role, you will identify and qualify alternative components, updating designs and associated production documentation to enable timely product updates and releases. You will ensure all design changes maintain required performance standards and product certification. This includes coordinating internal verification testing and working with external test houses for optical, EMC, environmental, and electrical safety compliance. The role involves reviewing electrical and electronic schematics, managing outsourced electrical and electronic engineering activities, and liaising closely with contractors. You will maintain accurate documentation of design changes and engineering procedures, while supporting company quality standards and ongoing product certification. The ability to modify PCB designs would be a strong advantage. You should be comfortable managing multiple time-critical issues concurrently to ensure uninterrupted product production. Occasional travel may be required to investigate and resolve issues identified in the factory or on customer sites, supporting products in manufacture or already delivered. You will also provide engineering support to the product delivery team, including the preparation of wiring diagrams and sign configuration files.
Profile What we are looking for
- BEng Electronics or HNC/D or equivalent experience in a product focused role.
- Working knowledge of electronic communications such as RS485, RS232, I3C, SPI, Ethernet, CAN bus and WiFi.
- Proficient working/understanding with electrical schematics, BOMS and PCB layouts and a working knowledge of electrical/electronic test equipment (ie. oscilloscopes, logic analysers, frequency counter).
- Literacy and Comprehension of Mechanical 2/3D Drawings.
- Good at problem solving electronic and electrical designs.
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels and with customers.
