We have a requirement for a Linux Software Development Engineer to join our engineers' teams in Leicester working on UK integration of the most widely deployed Traffic Light Controller in the world.

What you will do

  • You will play a key role in the ongoing development of our software products, help maintain the highest quality and security standards, design new services and enhance existing ones.
  • Develop Linux software for a traffic light controller in the UK.
  • Co-develop supporting tools, primarily in Python.
  • Develop an understanding of regulations, market requirements and traffic control in the UK and turn that into actionable changes for a global product in a local market.
  • Implement, document and test software solutions using C++ and possibly GoLang and/or Python.
  • Design new applications and enhance existing ones.
  • Work with colleagues in an international environment.
  • Daily work in an agile environment, develop and optimize processes and best practices.
  • Interpret customer requirements specifications generating functional requirements documentation for software development.
  • Maintain software development to company quality standards while helping to attain the highest security standards for our systems.
  • Look at improvements to the development process to maintain the leading-edge software development tools and techniques used for continuous improvement.

Your Profile

  • 2:1 or better Degree in BSc Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years Linux software development experience.
  • Working with Git code management and workflow processes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
