Traffic Signal Installer / Trainee Traffic Signal Installer at SWARCO UK.

Responsibilities

  • Install, refurbish and maintain traffic signal equipment and associated infrastructure.
  • Support the installation and maintenance of street‑based electrical equipment including CCTV, street lighting and barrier systems.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, customers and contractors on site.
  • Follow company procedures, Health & Safety requirements and industry regulations.
  • Support project delivery activities and contribute to successful installations.
  • Key Tasks
  • Installation and commissioning of traffic signal equipment.
  • Refurbishment and repair of existing traffic signal assets.
  • Installation and maintenance of associated electrical street furniture and systems.
  • Carry out site‑based works safely and professionally.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment and PPE.
  • Attend training courses and development programmes as required.
  • Support colleagues and contribute positively to team performance.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Strong electrical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and at height.
  • Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Electrical installation or maintenance experience.
  • Experience within traffic signals, street lighting, highways, utilities or related industries.
  • Relevant electrical qualifications.
  • Experience working on site‑based infrastructure projects.

Successful candidates must have the legal right to live and work in the UK at the commencement of employment.
