At SWARCO Smart Mobility Solutions / EVOLT Charging Ltd, we’re helping to shape the future of electric vehicle charging. As our network continues to grow, we’re looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our expanding team and help keep charging infrastructure operating safely, reliably and efficiently.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys fault finding, working with tools and solving technical problems. You’ll provide on-site and remote support to customers, helping to diagnose issues, carry out repairs and maintain charging equipment to a high standard.
What you will do:
- Carry out daily servicing and maintenance of customer EV charging stations.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, hardware, software and network-related faults.
- Complete repairs, including the replacement of faulty parts and components.
- Support installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance, upgrades and warranty activities.
- Provide remote technical assistance to customers and field teams when required.
- Maintain accurate service records, daily worksheets and company vehicle mileage.
- Manage and replenish spare parts stock, ensuring equipment and materials are available when needed.
- Work collaboratively with technical, engineering and customer service teams to deliver excellent customer service.
- Support service and maintenance contracts, helping to meet agreed response times and service levels.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures and relevant electrical and EV charging standards.
- Participate in an on-call rota, approximately 1 week in 5, Monday to Monday, as required.
What we are looking for:
We’re looking for someone with a practical, hands-on approach and a genuine interest in technical problem-solving. You don’t need to know everything about EV charging already — we can provide full training — but you should be comfortable working with electrical equipment and diagnosing faults.
What we offer:
- Full internal training and relevant certifications.
- The opportunity to develop your career in the growing EV charging industry.
- A company vehicle and the tools required for the role.
- The opportunity to work as part of an expanding technical team.
- A varied role involving customer support, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs.
- 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) pro rata.
- Employer pension contributions.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- Life assurance up to 6x salary.
- Full training and development opportunities.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a technical support or field service engineering role.
- A proven track record of carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs.
- Experience using a multimeter and carrying out continuity testing.
- A practical, hands-on approach and confidence using tools.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers and colleagues.
- A full MANUAL UK driving licence.
- Right to live and work in the UK.
- No more than 3 points on your driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience in the EV charging, automotive, clean energy or electrical engineering sectors.
- Previous experience working with charging infrastructure or similar electrical equipment.
- Experience providing remote technical support.
- Previous participation in an on-call or out-of-hours support rota.
- Relevant engineering qualifications or technical training.
