We are looking for Support Workers who care about making every moment matter for the people we support, regardless of qualifications or experience.

Location: Shildon (DL4 2)

Hours: Full-time

Job type: Permanent, up to 40 hour contracts available

About you

You will need to be adaptable and flexible with excellent communication skills and able to work as part of our team. Experience of challenging behaviour and/or learning disabilities is preferred but all training will be provided. This position is to support two young females in their own home. Due to the needs of the individual, this post is available to females only. Both people we support have their own vehicle and successful candidates must hold a full UK manual driving license and be willing to drive the car. Successful candidates will need to have a good understanding of supporting the person with Trauma, Self Harm and awareness of Tourette’s or show a commitment to learn skills in this area.

The role

To provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone’s individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they wish, in line with their individual support plans. Promote the health, well-being, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual beliefs of the people we support and ensure they are met in an inclusive way. Facilitating social, educational or work activities such as visiting family and friends, walks, shopping and other recreational activities of their choice. General housekeeping duties that can include shopping, domestic duties and helping to build skills around the home. As part of the role, you will need to be able to complete a range of records and documents using electronic systems. Be a resilient person and support in managing challenging behaviour in a proactive manner and in line with support plans and risk assessments.
