About The Role

Based at: Bishop Auckland (DL14 6)

Hours: Full time and Part time

Drivers with clean driving licences are highly desirable. We are looking for ambitious individuals to join and to develop your career in social care with us. We currently have vacancies for Day Service Support Worker to be based within new purpose-built supported living properties in Shildon and Bishop Auckland, for people diagnosed with a learning disability and mental health. This is an opportunity to work in what can at times be a challenging environment as part of a small team of care professionals in a quality setting that is not only rewarding but fulfilling too. Supported by your colleagues and our management team, we are looking for people who are resilient and comfortable supporting people who may have challenging behaviours. Comprehensive training, support and onboarding into the company and service is provided. This is a rewarding role for the right candidates. We work on a rota basis covering days and nights, weekdays and weekends with flexibility for the right candidates.

Responsible for:

  • Delivering effective care.
  • Promoting social inclusion, promoting independent living skills and providing care and support to service users.

General Duties:

  • Promote good health and wellbeing with the service user.
  • Encourage social inclusion.
  • Participate in activities with service users.
  • Follow individual service user’s care and support plan.
  • Support service users to access the community and take part in stimulating activities.
  • Safely administer medication to service users (if required) and support those who are able to self-medicate.
  • Support service users to maintain and increase their skills.
  • Assist service users in meeting cultural needs.
  • Maintain a safe environment for all service users, staff and visitors to the service wherever possible.
  • Complete and maintain all relevant documentation with regards to service users and/or required by Swanton care and community.
  • Undergo required training programmes to promote knowledge.
  • Provide a high standard of support and understanding to all our service users and any issues they may present.
