About The Role

Position: PBS & Physical Intervention Trainer

Location: Remote work from home with national coverage, but ideally based in Yorkshire area. As a large organisation, there will be an expectation that the trainer will travel to different locations and there may be requirement to stay overnight, so must be a driver with access to their own vehicle. All travel and accommodation is paid for, and dates will be agreed at least 3 months in advance.

Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week to be worked to meet the needs of the business.

About you

This is an opportunity for a pro-active PBS & Physical Intervention Trainer to join an evolving care company and to be part of our team. You will need:

  • NVQ Level 5 qualification in PBS or equivalent/above (or willing to complete)
  • Professional experience working with children and/or adults with Autism and learning disabilities and behaviours of concern.
  • 1 year of working in a PBS role or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of support needs of people with Autism, learning disabilities and mental health disorders.
  • Sound understanding of PBS, Active Support, Mental Capacity and how this is used to inform practice.

Responsible for delivering face to face RRN accredited training programmes outlined by NAPPI UK to support maintaining our organisational training compliance. Equipping teams with the skills and knowledge to manage behaviour safely, respectfully, and within legal and organisational guidelines. The trainer will promote the use of proactive strategies to minimise the use of restrictive practices and ensure the safety and well-being of staff and people we support. There will be an expected delivery of 3-4 days’ worth of training per week with a day to complete administrative tasks.

About The Service

The people we support have complex needs; they may have autism, learning disabilities, mental health issues or need rehab in a specialist nursing service. We are seeking a passionate and experienced PBS Practitioner to join our team within a national high-quality care provider providing support across England and Scotland (this vacancy is for Barnsley, Yorkshire. Out of area coverage may be required on occasion). The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of people we support to conduct functional assessments, developing and implementing positive behaviour support plans resulting in improved outcomes. The role sits within our quality team and joins Swanton at an exciting time as we embed a new organisational PBS Strategy focused on a more sustainable and systemic approach. In line with our organisational commitment to PBS, the candidate will take a lead on practice development and training in specialist subjects including PBS, Active Support and Physical Intervention.
