The Looked After Children\’s Team in Swansea currently have a Senior Social Work vacancy. This is an exciting time to join the team where we have recently expanded and continue to develop the senior role. We currently have 7 Senior Social Workers in Post and are looking to recruit our 8th. We are a very friendly, stable team with a wealth of experience made up of Support Officers, Social Workers, Senior Social Workers, Practice Leads and Team Manager.
We work with children and young people form 0-16 years who have experienced trauma. We are a passionate and committed team and strive to create safe, secure and long-lasting connections with children and young people. We pride ourselves as a team in ensuring that we support our children and young people to understand their life journey and support them having safe family time with those who are important to them.
We work closely with our in-house Foster Wales Swansea Team, Family and Friends Team, independent fostering agencies and Residential providers to ensure our children and young people receive the best care and are given opportunity to develop their skills before they become adults.
As a Senior Social Worker within the Looked After Children\’s Team you would be responsible for a caseload of children in addition to this your role will include:
- Providing supervision to support officers in the team
- Providing direction and support to support officers and social workers
- Co working complex cases with newly qualified staff
- Chairing meetings such as Strategy meetings, family network meetings, Placement stability meetings
- Supporting families and professionals to develop safety plans
- Undertaking and leading on child protection investigations
- Supporting the team manager and practice leads in development of the team
- Facilitating/ assessing student social workers placements.
