The Mathematics Support Programme Wales is looking to employ 2 full-time project support assistants to organise, promote and coordinate student and teacher events in South Wales. One role will be based at Bay Campus, whilst the other will be split, working at both the Bay Campus and Cardiff University.

The role will be working within the Mathematics Department at Swansea University for the Welsh Government funded “Mathematics Support Programme Wales” (MSPW). The purpose of the funding is to enable MSPW to enhance access to AS/A2 Mathematics in Wales by strengthening delivery capacity across all regions at both pre and post 16 levels. The programme is Pan Wales with offices in Swansea, Bangor, Aberystwyth and Cardiff Universities. MSPW is a busy project and annually delivers events and activities to over 3000 students across Wales and 250+ teachers for Professional Learning. Events are enrichment based and designed to be educational, fun and aspirational for year 3 – year 13 students.

The role is to provide support and help to the MSPW team to deliver effective and target driven activities and events. You will provide high quality organisational and financial administration across the project’s activities. The post holder must have the ability to work under pressure, be friendly, work well in a team, able to work to deadlines and have an enthusiasm for Mathematics. Skills required include experience of using Excel and WordPress, utilising social media as a tool for marketing, and an understanding of financial procedures. The applicant should be able to suggest solutions, to organise their own workload, to prioritise tasks, have excellent attention to detail and to be adaptable.

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1-hour course.
