About the Role

We are recruiting an enthusiastic Legal Advisor to be part of the university’s in‑house legal team to strengthen the legal resource at the university to deal with a wide variety of legal matters. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative Legal Services Team within the Vice‑Chancellors Office. The postholder will provide legal advice, support and assistance to colleagues within Faculties and Professional Service Directorates within the university in all areas of law relevant to the university’s operations. This role is broad and dynamic. You will advise on a variety of legal matters, working within a collaborative and supportive team. We are looking for an individual who can work as part of a team and work independently on a high‑volume caseload. The role will include research, drafting, and reviewing professional documents, contracts, agreements, reports, letters and advice notes in line with the university’s requirements. Experience of Employment Law and/or Commercial Law would be desirable. This role will be critical in supporting the university, by providing a professional service, shaped and informed by the priorities and values of our university and the broader higher‑education sector.

Welsh Language Skills

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 – a little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1‑hour course. The university is a proud bilingual institution.
