The post holder will act as an experienced specialist State Registered Biomedical Scientist to provide a continuous, comprehensive Cellular Pathology service as an aid to effective diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and advanced preparatory and interpretive techniques, including Immunohistochemistry and research projects.
- Perform technical duties to necessary standards and within guidelines of health and safety regulations, in support of the diagnostic service to patients.
- Supervise newly qualified BMS staff, trainees and biomedical support workers.
- Maintain personal and professional development and competency to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff development and training.
- Work independently, directed by senior Biomedical Scientists according to operational requirements.
Qualifications
- Applications are invited from graduates (or students who are about to graduate) with an accredited IBMS degree in Biomedical Science or students who are about to graduate from a healthcare science practitioner training programme (PTP) degree.
- Trainee Biomedical Scientists will be appointed in the absence of any appropriately qualified candidates.
- The Cellular Pathology Department has an excellent record in achieving HCPC registration for Trainee Biomedical Science graduates who have not already achieved this.
- The department is fully UKAS accredited under ISO 15189 standards and is well equipped with state of the art equipment.
