Come and work for the SBUHB Physiotherapy Service in beautiful Swansea Bay, with fabulous coastline, outdoor pursuits, and mountain walking all within easy travelling distance. Joining our team you will be afforded fantastic opportunities for CPD, teaching and mentoring through senior staff educated to Masters level, or above. We have long established links with multiple South Wales Universities, for undergrad and post-grad Physio education, including the provision of student placements. Recently we have had many staff secure HEIW funding for post graduate study. We have strong relationships with the School of Health Science, and School of Medicine at Swansea University, both in terms of accessing post-grad courses, supporting research projects, and providing teaching and education to medical students.

Main Duties:

  • To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to the specialist caseload across various sites within the SBUHB as the service requires.
  • To manage a defined caseload of clients with complex needs within this setting, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, maintaining associated records.
  • To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
  • To provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal as delegated by supervisor.
  • To supervise Physiotherapy students on clinical placements.
  • To deputise for the Senior Physiotherapists in their absence as required.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including a 7-day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year.
  • To participate in CPD and develop skills and knowledge through participation in an in-service training scheme.
  • To work across the Health Board and travel between SBU Health Board sites as required to support service delivery.
  • To undertake lone working if required.
  • To be an active participant in the on-call rota.

    • Experience of working in an NHS Physiotherapy Department
    • Broad range of experience as an NHS rotational Physiotherapist
    • Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team / MDT team
  • Desirable criteria:
    • Experience of working on a vascular ward
    • Experience of working in Critical care
  • Aptitude and Abilities
    • Essential criteria:
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to travel between SBU HB sites in a timely manner for patient care
    • Ability to organise / prioritise and delegate effectively
