We are excited to offer the opportunity for someone with a passion for paediatric dietetics to join our team! The post will continue to develop the service supporting the neonatal team. This is a permanent, part time (working 18.75 hours per week) role. The post will be based in Singleton Hospital, Neonatal unit but you will be required to work across the Health Board and community visits as needed. We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with excellent communication skills.

Our team have close working relationships with paediatricians, children's community nurses, health visitors, specialist nurses, paediatric speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. The post is offered as an Annex 21 position for applicants who do not hold the full qualifications and will be considered for a trainee position and will be subject to NHS Wales Annex 21 as set out within the NHS Wales Terms & Conditions of Employment.

Main duties of the job

You will draw on your experience of working with infants/children receiving enteral tube feeding and oral feeding to autonomously manage your caseload, providing a high standard of assessment and management. Experience of working with preterm infants is preferred but is not essential as training and support will be provided. You will take support the supervision and mentoring of junior members of staff, Placement 1, 2 and 3 student dietitians and support workers and assistant practitioners, delegating duties as necessary and providing the appropriate level of support at all times.

We offer both departmental and personal CPD time to support your development and share best practice. Our Department is committed to the development of evidence based practice, research and clinical audit and you will be supported in attending relevant professional networking meetings, interest groups and CPD opportunities as well as having an annual appraisal. We have good support from administrative staff and Dietetic Assistants. The Health Board has University status with Colleges of Medicine on site. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge
B.Sc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
HCPC Registered
Post registration training in relevant area
MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge + advanced post graduate training/experience in relevant areas.
Evidence of a wide variety of clinical knowledge
Student Clinical Educators Course
Recognised management/ leadership qualification.

Experience
Working as a Specialist Dietitian in Nutrition and Dietetics within specialist area.
A high level specialist knowledge of service delivery in a variety of different settings.
Audit and Quality Improvement Methodology.
Experience of strategic planning process.
Experience of policy/ service development.

Aptitude and abilities
Highly developed interpersonal skills including developed oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Have highly developed organisational skills to be able to set priorities and meet daily deadlines.
Able to work on own initiative in a professional manner under pressure as well as having effective teamwork skills.
