An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Health Care Support Worker to work within the District Nursing service. The post requires excellent communication skills, flexibility, and teamwork to provide quality care to patients with complex healthcare needs within their homes. The post holder will work a shift pattern of morning and evening shifts and provide a range of skills, including delivering care to patients with complex health needs, supporting patients and families, performing venepuncture, simple wound care, and catheter care.
The role involves a close working relationship with the Community Nursing Service to meet individuals’ needs as promptly as possible, enabling patients to remain at home. The post will include visiting patients as a lone worker and transporting medical stock and equipment between sites. Independent travel between sites in a timely manner is essential.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
The Senior Healthcare Assistant (Level 3) has greater autonomy and undertakes a broader range of health and care in accordance with policy and procedures. The post holder works on their own initiative, undertakes delegated tasks with appropriate supervision from a registered practitioner/assistant practitioner, contributes to assessment, assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans, supervises other staff and promotes the delivery of high‑quality care.
Person specification:
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge:
- Level 3 qualification in a health‑care related subject or equivalent experience, with evidence of work‑based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant to the role.
- Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a health‑care setting, such as safeguarding adults/children and confidentiality under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
- Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment and providing direct patient care.
- Experience of working with patient groups relevant to the area of practice.
- Experience of working within the NHS.
