We are looking for a friendly and motivated Clinical Assistant to provide efficient and effective support in delivering a high quality service to patients. You would be joining our friendly team within the Podiatry & Orthotic service.

Job Responsibilities

  • The Clinical Assistant will work at all times under the delegation of a Podiatrist in the delivery of person‑centred care for patients attending the Podiatry Clinic sites across the Health Board.
  • Use excellent communication skills and work as part of a team to provide quality care to patients who attend the Podiatry Clinics across sites within the Health Board.
  • Provide a range of duties including administration/clerical/data entry support to the Podiatrists, answering and dealing with patient appointment and other non‑clinical enquiries, and dealing with enquiries from the general public, departmental and other health and social care staff.
  • Provide practical assistance to patients attending the Podiatry Clinics such as undertaking patient observations including blood glucose and blood pressure readings when required, and undertaking diabetic annual review foot screening for patients attending the diabetes clinics.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Minimum of Qualification Credit Framework - QCF Level 2 (formally NVQ Level 2) in Health/ & willingness to complete QCF qualification within agreed timeframe.
  • Good Level of General Education with GCSE passes or equivalent.
  • Willing to undertake further learning specific to role.
  • Evidence of maintaining own personal development.
  • Understands the principles of confidentiality.
  • Understands the principles of consent prior to undertaking care.
  • Understands the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe.

Essential Aptitude and abilities

  • Able to undertake specific procedures involving physical skills commensurate with practice area.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Able to effectively and appropriately escalate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety.
  • Ability to deal with non‑routine and unpredictable nature of the workload and individual patient contact.
  • Customer care skills.
  • Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
  • Experience of working/caring in a health or social care environment.
