An exciting opportunity exists to join the dynamic and compassionate team at Singleton Hospital, host of the South West Wales Cancer Centre. The role involves comprehensive, patient‑centred inpatient and outpatient systemic anti‑cancer therapy (SACT), radiotherapy services and autologous stem cell transplant within the South Wales Blood and Marrow Transplant Programme.

Successful candidates will be appointed to an Advanced Pharmacist – Band 8a.

Main Duties

The pharmacy cancer team is well integrated into the multidisciplinary team, operating non‑medical prescriber clinics and organising home‑care services. As a Specialist Cancer Services Pharmacist, you will be pivotal to the provision and development of advanced pharmaceutical care for haematology and oncology patients. You will improve patient care, promote optimal medication outcomes, and undertake research, audit, and reporting on medicines expenditure, clinical governance and risk management.

Job Responsibilities

You will provide advanced pharmaceutical care in haematology and oncology, participating in multidisciplinary discussions, maintaining accurate medication records, and contributing to the continuous improvement of pharmacy services. Fluency in Welsh is desirable but not required; English or Welsh speakers are equally welcome.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Postgraduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • Member of the GPhC.
  • Independent Prescriber (or able to complete within an agreed timeframe upon employment).

Experience

  • Experience as a clinical pharmacist in a specialist area.
  • Experience contributing to pharmaceutical care in a specialist area.
  • Ability to work in a highly specialised environment.
  • Proven track record of competence, including clinical audit, practice research, and implementation of procedures and protocols.
  • Innovative and well‑organised.
  • Good communicator, motivated, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to concentrate when frequently under pressure and subject to interruptions.

Remuneration
