Our team plays a pivotal role in supporting the organisation’s digital transformation by developing robust analytical tools and managing data warehouse solutions that underpin critical data intelligence systems. With NHS services facing unprecedented challenges, this role will ensure that data is reliable, secure, and scalable placing data at the heart of decision-making.

The Senior Applications and Data Warehouse Developer role offers the opportunity to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level data solutions that support the organisation’s data needs. You will work on projects that integrate complex data sources, optimise performance, and deliver innovative solutions to help improve patient care and organisational efficiency.

Main Duties:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data solutions that support business and clinical processes across the Health Board.
  • Develop and manage data warehouse solutions, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance optimisation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.
  • Implement ETL processes and ensure seamless integration of multiple data sources.
  • Provide technical leadership on application architecture, database design, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Educated to Degree Level or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of further development and or education and training.
  • A good general understanding of clinical and non-clinical informatics processes.
  • Knowledge of information requirements and standards within a healthcare environment.

Experience:

  • Experience within an information environment.
  • Experience of statistical analysis of complex information.
  • Experience of communicating complex issues and data concepts to a range of people.
  • Previous experience of delivering projects within timescales.

Aptitude and Abilities:

  • Adhere to and can demonstrate SBU Values & Behaviours.
  • Advanced IT and analytical skills with an advanced knowledge of IT tools/systems such as SQL along with Business Intelligence technologies.
  • Ability to interpret highly complex informatics concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of data warehousing, relational databases, information systems and data transfer packages.
  • Track record of delivering high quality work in demanding timescales.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective team working and working relationships.
  • Structured, diagnostic approach to finding solutions to complex data issues.

Other:

  • Ability to travel within geographical area. Able to work hours flexibly.
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS clearance including an Adults and Childrens Barred List check (as relevant to the Post).
  • Be able to prioritise workload and effectively manage competing demands.
