An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the Primary Care Cluster team within the Neath Port Talbot locality, on a fixed-term secondment. This innovative role will focus on designing and delivering an Occupational Therapy service aimed at promoting the health and wellbeing of the cluster population with a focus on mental health and employability.
The post requires a diverse clinical skill set across physical and mental health, alongside strong leadership, service development and service evaluation skills. You will work collaboratively with Primary Care Team multidisciplinary teams and community services to create a sustainable, impactful service model within the fixed term period.
You will need excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills and sound clinical knowledge, but enthusiasm and the potential to develop these within the post will also be valued. As such, you will be provided with a variety of opportunities to develop your leadership, management and clinical skills.
You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, the contract hours includes a 7-day shift pattern, with extended working hours covering 365 days of the year.
Main duties of the job:
- To manage a defined caseload within specialist area, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the outcomes of intervention where appropriate; hospital, community, patients' homes, schools, outpatient settings and maintaining associated records.
- To organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
- To ensure clinical records are kept to agreed standards and report accurately to others.
- To work in partnership with clients, carers and all stakeholders including the multidisciplinary/multi-agency team to identify relevant goals.
- To provide leadership and supervision for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor/team leader.

Qualifications:
Essential criteria:
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent OT qualification)
- Professional Registration with HCPC
- Specific recognised postgraduate training/courses relevant to specialist area equivalent to masters level
- Accredited fieldwork supervisor for the education of OT students
Desirable criteria:
- Leadership/management training
- Membership of professional body BAOT
Experience and Knowledge:
Essential criteria:
- Experience of autonomous caseload management, comprising assessment, planning intervention and evaluation within relevant clinical area
- Experience of multi-agency working
- Knowledge of OT role in this setting
- Knowledge of the principles of Clinical Governance and the ability to apply to working practice.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of research and/or audit and implementing evidence based practice
