The Dental Unit is looking for a part-time Senior Dentist - Band B to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a part-time role based at the Dental Teaching Unit (DTU) in Port Talbot. Hours to be discussed at interview.

The purpose of this post is to work with the Health Board and the Welsh Deanery to improve, facilitate and develop dental health care services in the SBU area, by providing comprehensive general dental services to patients and effective training and mentoring to the Foundation Dentist. The post holder will also be responsible for liaising with the Welsh Deanery regarding the study day programme and managing the Business Manager, Foundation Trainees and other dental staff on the training side of the Unit, in line with patient needs and the General Dental Services Contract. The post holder will also be required to assist in the management of the service.

To support DTU service provision and planning as a member of the DTU senior management team

To participate in clinical audit as part of a clinical governance strategy

To participate in risk management and health and safety awareness

The post holder must be available for guidance and training of the Dental Foundation Trainees and other Dental Care Professionals in training in the unit as agreed with the Lead Senior Dentist.

To develop good working relationships with other health care professionals and agencies and participate in projects and activities.

Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. Swansea has a range of shops, cosy cafes, great restaurants, art galleries as well as being able to offer good outdoor lifestyle with its beautiful coastline and beaches on the Gower Peninsula. Swansea also has excellent sporting facilities including the Wales National pool and Swansea.com stadium home to the Ospreys and Swansea City Football Club.
