Overview
We are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic individual to assist in the day-to-day running of our Catering Department.
Based at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, you may be required to cover other sites within Swansea Bay Health Board.
The role involves cooking, serving hot food and other restaurant duties, with potential duties in the coffee shop and in chilled and/or frozen environments as appropriate.
The post is 17.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Assistant: assist in all Food Services areas as directed by the team leader and/or line manager, and operate within established food hygiene and safety practices and procedures, within a flexible team approach.
- Cover service areas including kitchen and dish wash, hospitality and retail areas (functions, restaurants and coffee shops), newsagents, vending, ward trolley service and other related areas.
- Carry out cleaning of premises and equipment, simple food preparation and packaging, food service, vending and ward trolley service; work in chilled and/or frozen environments as required.
Qualifications and essential knowledge
- Basic numeric and literacy skills.
- NVQ Level 1 & 2 (Catering) or relevant equivalent experience.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Training (or to be completed within a 12-week induction): Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, COSHH.
- Experience of working in a catering environment; supervisory duties is desirable.
- Aptitudes and abilities
- Adhere to and demonstrate SBU values and behaviours.
- Effective communication and good organisational skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team; provide guidance on departmental practices and procedures.
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain records.
- Welsh language skills are desirable (levels 1–5 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing).
