An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Senior Advanced Practitioner to join the Children and Young People's Neurodevelopmental Service, with a specific focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Dual Diagnosis (ASD/ADHD) pathways. This is a senior practitioner role combining advanced clinical practice, staff leadership, service improvement and system-wide collaboration. The post holder will be a key contributor to the delivery, quality and ongoing development of neurodevelopmental assessment pathways, supporting safe, timely and person-centred care. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
- Advanced, autonomous clinical practice within the Neurodevelopmental Service, contributing to ASD and Dual Diagnosis (ASD/ADHD) diagnostic pathways.
- Undertake complex assessment, formulation and clinical decision-making within agreed scope and governance.
- Provide expert advice and leadership across the MDT to support high-quality diagnostic outcomes.
- Day-to-day professional and operational leadership, line management/clinical supervision, and supporting induction, supervision and competency development.
- Lead service improvement (pathway redesign, efficiency and reducing unwarranted variation).
- Support delivery of national priorities (timely access and prudent, value-based care).
- Use data/audit/feedback to drive quality improvement and business/workforce planning.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, risk and assurance; ensure practice aligns with professional standards, national guidance and local policy.
- Support learning from incidents/complaints/feedback.
- Key liaison with education, local authority, CAMHS, primary care and third-sector partners.
- Promote effective multi-agency working in line with ALN responsibilities.
- Represent the service at relevant forums.

Qualifications & Knowledge
- Professional registration
- Level 7 Education (Master's Degree) relevant to area of practice.
- Professional registration (NMC, HCPC)
- Evidence of maintaining an Advanced Clinical Practice portfolio.
- Advanced specialist knowledge of patient pathways.
- Advanced theoretical knowledge and practical experience to carry out clinical consultation and/or examination relevant to area of practice.
- Management/Leadership qualification or possess equivalent skills and experience.
Experience
- Extensive post registration clinical experience in advanced practice within speciality area.
- Evidence of performing at Advanced Level of Practice.
- Proven track record of working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
Essential Aptitude and abilities
- Adheres to & can demonstrate SBU Values & Behaviours.
- Clinical skills competence for environment/setting.
- Demonstrate leadership/supervision experience.
