About the Role
Following private equity investment we are growing the group finance function to support our growth plans.
We are looking for an Interim Financial Controller on an initial six-month contract.
This is a hands-on role supporting the CFO and will suit a technically strong, qualified accountant who is comfortable operating in a hands-on environment and working across both reporting and management accounting.
You will play a key role in leading and supporting the finance function on a day-to-day basis, preparing management information, implementing financial processes and controls and overseeing annual audit and accounts preparation.

This is a hybrid role, typically requiring 2-3 days per week in our Exeter office.

Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function on a day-to-day basis.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and deliver accurate financial reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure statutory and payroll obligations are met.
- Oversee financial reporting, month-end close and statutory accounting processes.
- Support audit delivery and act as a key point of contact for external advisors.
- Prepare and review technical accounting papers, accounting treatments and financial disclosures.
- Drive improvements in financial controls, processes and reporting quality.
- Maintain strong balance sheet control and governance across the group.
- Support senior stakeholders with financial analysis and decision-making.
About you
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Strong technical accounting, operational and financial reporting background.
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on environment and working across both reporting and management accounting.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities.
- Experience within a professional services, consultancy or project based business is ideal but not essential.
