Following private equity investment, Swanky is growing its group finance function to support our next phase of growth, and we're looking for a
Finance Manager to help shape it.
This is a newly created role, giving you the chance to own the numbers, build accurate and insightful management accounts, and put in place the processes and controls that let the business move faster with confidence.
You'll be building a modern, scalable finance function from the ground up, with exposure to senior-level reporting, strategic planning and finance leadership from day one, and a clear path to progress to Financial Controller.
This is a hybrid role , typically requiring two to three days a week in our Exeter office plus team days as needed.
We welcome applications from candidates seeking a 0.8 FTE arrangement and/or applying from outside Exeter.
- What you'll be doing
- Establishing and leading the management accounting function, ensuring accurate records and timely reporting
- Implementing an effective month-end process for the group
- Preparing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and insight for non-finance users
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, including income recognition
- Designing and implementing controls and policies to maintain a strong control environment
- Introducing processes and systems to increase efficiency, using AI where appropriate
- Overseeing the year-end process, liaising with external advisers and auditors on financial statements and regulatory requirements
- Managing operational cash flows and forecasts to ensure sufficient working capital
- Monitoring and managing FX exposure and currency transactions
- Coordinating the annual budget and quarterly reforecast processes
- Partnering with the CFO, CEO and Heads of Department on analysis and reporting for strategic decisions
- Working with the CFO and leadership team to evaluate growth opportunities, investment decisions, acquisitions and operational performance
- What you'll bring
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, with established management accounting experience
- A self-starter who takes ownership and acts on what needs doing, with the autonomy to shape the function
- High personal standards, and the ability to hold others to the same
- A collaborative, personable approach, working closely with colleagues across the business
- Strong communication skills and a commercial mindset, comfortable with both finance and non-finance audiences
- Comfort with ambiguity and energy for change, thriving where processes are still being built
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
- Ambition to progress into a Financial Controller role
