Position Summary
The Information Systems Technician supports the company's technology needs across both office and field environments. This role emphasizes real-time user assistance, hands-on software support, and contributions to database and infrastructure initiatives that ensure smooth business operations. As the in-house software specialist, the technician will provide end-user training, manage software assets, and deliver critical application support to maintain operational continuity. They will also oversee all device & asset management and assist with Help Desk functions, acting as a primary point of contact for technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Support & Training: Develop and maintain proficiency in core business software platforms, including Microsoft Excel, HCSS HeavyJob, and other construction-specific tools. Support Excel scripting (macros, XML scripting, ODBC custom reports) to enable more efficient reporting and data handling. Deliver hands-on software training, particularly for field staff, and proactively communicate system updates and troubleshooting tips to minimize downtime and user frustration.
- Device & Asset Management: Maintain and manage company-issued devices, particularly Apple products (iPhones, iPads, etc), including setup, updates, troubleshooting, and user support. Track, catalog, install, and maintain all IT hardware and consumables.
- Help Desk & Technical Support: Serve as an on-call resource for troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, device, and system access issues, ensuring minimal downtime for office and field staff.
- Database: Support database management, including installation, configuration, backups, restores, troubleshooting, and security.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain accurate documentation for troubleshooting guides, hardware/software configurations, and asset inventory.
Other duties as assigned by the CFO.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in a relevant concentration (Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, etc); or commensurate experience.
- 2+ years' experience in IT support, preferably in a construction or field-based environment.
- Proficiency with Windows and Apple operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business software.
- Familiarity with Excel scripting tools (macros, XML), ODBC connections, and reporting is strongly preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to complete all physical tasks: lifting 40 lbs.; regular bending, twisting and turning; flexible movement and able to crawl or climb into tight spaces.
Desired Abilities & Experience
- Working knowledge of construction management platforms (HCSS preferred).
- Construction industry experience or familiarity with construction tech is a plus.
- Familiarity with construction workflows and systems used by field personnel.
- Driver's License and Travel Flexibility: Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites and remote field offices to provide hands-on support.
