Swancote Energy is a leading waste recycling and green energy facility, converting food and organic waste into renewable energy through our advanced anaerobic digestion (AD) process. The Role
As an Engineering Apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside our experienced Engineering and Operations teams, while also studying towards your Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician qualification. This structured program combines practical training at our facility with practical and formal learning at In-Comm Training, giving you a strong foundation in both electrical and mechanical engineering skills. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you’ll have the opportunity to progress onto a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Mechatronics, supporting your continued development and career progression within Swancote Energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of plant machinery and equipment.
- Support senior engineers with electrical, mechanical, and control system tasks.
- Gain experience working on pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, control panels, PLCs, soft starters, and instrumentation.
- Learn how to work safely within an anaerobic digestion and energy recovery plant environment.
- Document and record all tasks using the company CMMS - MaintMaster.
- Help perform preventive maintenance routines to prevent equipment breakdowns.
- Complete structured training assignments and attend block-release training sessions with In-Comm.
About You

- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications
