A Flow Assurance Engineer is required to support Eni’s worldwide oil and gas projects providing technical leadership within the Flow Assurance discipline. The role is part of the Eni project engineering group based in Basingstoke and supports Flow Assurance activities in all project phases, from feasibility through FEED to execution and operations. The role may also support Flow Assurance for Eni’s CCUS projects, including assessment and definition of CO₂ transportation systems, evaluation of operating envelopes, and studies related to CO₂ flow assurance challenges and thermohydraulic behaviour.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all technical documentation related to Flow Assurance activities across project phases (Conceptual Study, FEED, Tender and Contract package preparation, detailed engineering, and operations).
- Follow up Supplier Call for Tender & Selection, including qualifications, clarifications, and recommendations for the Flow Assurance discipline.
- Review and approve FEED, Tender, and Detailed Engineering performed by contractors for the Flow Assurance discipline.
- Provide technical support to interface disciplines (Pipelines/Subsea, Process/Facilities, Operations) to ensure integrated solutions.
- Support operations and start‑up/commissioning troubleshooting as required.
- Be responsible for Flow Assurance activities and those of the Flow Assurance team as PDL.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Subsea Systems department, especially within the Flow Assurance discipline.
- Interface with other Engineering disciplines during project execution.
- Manage interfaces with Reservoir and Laboratories.
- Perform the technical and administrative functions of the PDL on complex projects.
- Support the Flow Assurance Coordinator and the Chief of Subsea Systems in preparing manhour estimates for new proposals.
- Proactively highlight variations of manhours and schedule to the Flow Assurance Coordinator and the Chief of Subsea Systems due to changes in scope.
- Maintain awareness of International Standards & Codes.
- Advise on correct interpretation and application of Company internal standards and HSEQ policies, developing new ones as required.
- Mentor Engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience as a Flow Assurance Engineer throughout all project phases (concept development to execution and handover to operations).
- Graduate‑level knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
- Ability to identify, define, and analyse complex multiphase hydrocarbon transportation schemes.
- Capability to perform technical reviews of Flow Assurance documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards and best practices.
- Proficient in software: OLGA, PVTSim, Multiflash, Pipenet, Pipesim, Hysys, Unisim.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Matlab, C++, and Python is an added benefit.
- Experience with Technical Audit and Design & Safety Reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, and Risk Assessment.
- Effective communication and interface skills with staff, outside specialists, shareholders, contractors, and management.
- Strong organizational and planning capabilities for project execution.
- Ability to integrate HSE and technical risk processes into engineering solutions.
- Excellent collaboration skills across multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong judgment and prioritisation skills for complex assignments.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
