This is a fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover for a Cardiff Contact Supervisor who is currently on maternity leave. Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families? Swan Family is looking for a compassionate and dependable Family Contact Supervisor to join our child-focused team at one of our two welcoming Cardiff Children and Family Contact Centres, one in the East of Cardiff, and one in the West.
In this rewarding, hands-on role, you will support and supervise family time between children and their birth families, both within our centres and in the community. You will help create a safe, supportive environment in which positive family relationships can develop.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise family contact sessions in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
- Observe and accurately record interactions during contact sessions.
- Prepare clear, factual reports within agreed timescales.
- Liaise professionally with social workers and other relevant professionals.
- Recognise, report and escalate safeguarding concerns promptly.
- Transport or escort children and young people to and from contact sessions when required.
- Attend planning meetings, reviews and training relevant to the role.
- Follow Swan Family's safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
About You
We are looking for an empathetic and reliable person who:

- Communicates clearly and can remain calm, professional and non-judgemental.
- Has strong observation and report-writing skills.
- Can manage challenging or sensitive situations with confidence and care.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding.
Qualifications
You must hold a Level 3 qualification or higher related to children, young people, families, health or social care. Relevant qualifications may include, but are not limited to:
- Level 3 Diploma or NVQ in Children and Young Peoples Workforce
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
- Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning
- Level 3 qualification in Youth Work
- A relevant qualification in Social Work or Psychology
- A relevant foundation degree or degree
- Another equivalent child-, family- or care-related qualification
Equivalent qualifications will be considered based on their relevance to the role and experience.
Additional Requirements
An Enhanced DBS check covering work with children and adults will be required before employment begins. You do not need to have an existing DBS certificate or be registered with the Update Service, as Swan Family will arrange and pay for the required check. A full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential for this position.
