We are recruiting on behalf of a respected, multi-office accountancy practice based in Warwickshire, seeking to appoint a VAT Specialist / Assistant Manager to join their growing team.

This firm has a strong reputation for client service and internal culture. They are looking for someone with solid VAT experience to review returns, support junior team members, and act as an internal indirect tax contact.

This position can be fully remote or hybrid, depending on the candidate\’s preference.

What You\’ll Be Doing

1. Preparing and reviewing VAT returns for accuracy and timeliness.
2. Overseeing filings to HMRC.
3. Reviewing work by junior team members and providing feedback.
4. Managing a diverse client portfolio and ensuring VAT obligations are met.
5. Collaborating with the team to troubleshoot queries and provide technical advice.
6. Monitoring client workflows.
7. Handling ad hoc projects and client queries.

What We\’re Looking For

1. Strong VAT compliance background, familiar with reverse charges and partial exemptions.
2. Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to identify inconsistencies.
3. Experience with accounting and tax software (e.g., Xero, Sage, IRIS, TaxCalc).
4. Experience reviewing others\’ work, with a thorough and helpful approach.
5. Confident communicator capable of explaining tax concepts clearly to colleagues and clients.
