The Transport Planner will play a central role creating an effective transport plan for our customers whilst complying with legal responsibilities, enhancing service, meeting revenue targets and vehicle utilisation., * Accurate use of TMS, vehicle tracking system, monitoring deliveries, failures, rejections and rebooks, whilst ensuring appropriate revenues are captured and invoiced

  • Listens and responds to customer requests and adheres to agreed SLA’s

  • Prioritise and plan workloads in line with company KPI’s

  • Operate vehicles ensuring optimisation of revenue

  • Follow compliance and company processes relating to driver hours regulations, RTA and incident/accident reporting including relevant follow up

  • Ensure both driver brief and debriefs are carried out without exception

  • Using agreed quoting tools to ensure new work is rated correctly.

  • Maintaining excellent working relationships with drivers, keeping a consistent and accurate flow of communication

  • Progress client deliveries, adjusting plans where necessary due to changing situations

  • Monitor driver performance and ensure effective management of available resources

  • Escalate issues to line management in good time, suggest solutions to issues/problems

  • Ensure driver compliance is in line with current legislation.

  • Continually develop local relationships with existing customers including generating backload opportunities from external contacts / clearing house

  • Check & approve drivers wage, and expenses claims ensuring they are accurate and pre-authorised

  • Act in accordance with health and safety, quality and environment policies

  • Ensure that all company assets are legal, compliant and operate safely

  • Ensure all trailers are serviced and MOT in line with the DVSA and Company guidelines.

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced transport environment, ideally planning flatbed vehicles throughout the UK

  • Previous driver management experience

  • Excellent UK geographical knowledge

  • Knowledge of Mandata or similar transport management system

  • IT literate and proficient in MS office suite

  • Ability to plan and amend delivery schedules

  • Good communicator

  • Ability to adapt in a changing environment

  • Customer focused

  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities.

  • Current transport legislation knowledge
