As our accounts lead, you’ll oversee all core financial functions, from monthly and year-end accounts to audit preparation and compliance. You’ll be responsible for payroll, treasury, and tax functions. Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll contribute to strategic decisions and manage a direct report handling sales, purchase ledger, and credit control.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Financial & Management Accounting - Prepare and present monthly management accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations. Oversee month-end closure, general ledger entries, and submit group reporting.
- Year-End, Audit & Compliance - Manage VAT returns, tax documentation.
- Payroll, Treasury - Process payroll, manage pensions, and support the MD in salary reviews. Manage treasury operations, including online banking. Manage holiday/sickness records.
- Additional Responsibilities - Liaise with creditors and debtors.
Person Specification
To succeed in this role, you’ll be a proactive and highly organised finance professional with a strategic mindset and attention to detail. You’ll be able to communicate effectively at all levels and bring a hands-on approach to support our growth.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Fully qualified accounts Manager (AAT level 3) with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience.
- Background in financial accounting within an industry setting is advantageous.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient with Excel and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Personal Attributes:
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple responsibilities effectively.
- High level of integrity, with the ability to instil trust and confidence across all levels of the business.
- Adaptable and comfortable in a hands-on, dynamic work environment where a variety of business functions may require your support.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Confident managing and developing direct reports, ensuring effective financial processes.
Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
Benefits: On-site parking, Private medical care
Working hours: Monday to Thursday, Friday, with half hour for lunch.
