Education and Learning Development Officer
Help shape the future of education and lifelong learning at one of Britain’s leading heritage railways.
We’re looking for an ambitious and creative Education & Learning Development Officer to lead the development of a long-term Education and Lifelong Learning Strategy for the Severn Valley Railway. This is a unique opportunity to establish the foundations of a sustainable education programme that engages people of all ages, from schools and colleges to adult learners, community groups and lifelong learning organisations.
Working closely with our Fundraising Manager, you’ll build partnerships, develop innovative learning opportunities and create a funding pipeline that supports education activities beyond the initial grant-funded period.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a Railway-wide Education & Lifelong Learning Strategy.
- Create learning opportunities linked to heritage, engineering, STEM, sustainability and local history.
- Build partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, U3A and community organisations.
- Develop funding opportunities alongside the Fundraising Manager.
- Create a sustainable operating model and business case for future education provision.
- Pilot educational programmes and learning experiences across multiple audience groups.
We’re Looking For Someone With
- Experience in education, learning, heritage, community engagement or programme development.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.
- Experience managing projects and delivering outcomes.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A passion for education, heritage and public benefit.
Location
Based at SVR Head Office, Kidderminster, with regular travel to partner organisations, educational institutions and stakeholders.

Contract: Fixed-Term (9 Months)
Start Date: January 2027

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
