Vacancy Type: Part Time / Temporary

Location: St Vincent's Chorley Buddies, Unit 3, Harpers Lane, Chorley, PR6 0FD (vehicle is based in Chorley, with work required in the Preston area)

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (including occasional weekends)

Contract: 9-month fixed term (potential extension subject to funding)

Salary: £18,006.30 per annum

Make a real difference in your community. We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in a brand-new role, helping to shape and deliver an innovative community project. Our new Mobile Support Unit will take services directly into local communities, listening to what people need and delivering meaningful support where it matters most. At the heart of this project is our fully equipped vehicle, bringing help, connection and practical support to those who need it.

About the role

As a Mobile Support Coordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the mobile unit, ensuring it operates effectively, safely and in line with our community objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and manage a 7.5-tonne mobile support vehicle across local communities
  • Plan routes, activities and outreach sessions in collaboration with colleagues and volunteers
  • Develop and deliver services that respond to local community needs
  • Recruit, support and coordinate volunteers
  • Build strong relationships with local partners and stakeholders
  • Provide guidance, information and signposting to community members
  • Ensure all safety, compliance and vehicle maintenance requirements are met
  • Monitor and report on project progress and impact

About you

Essential

  • Category C1 (or equivalent) driving licence and confidence driving larger vehicles
  • Experience organising and delivering activities or community-based services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a busy and varied workload
  • Good IT and organisational skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and working with vulnerable individuals
  • A compassionate, patient and empathetic approach
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

Desirable

  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Knowledge of local community needs

Additional Information

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check, including children’s barred list checks.
