We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Twinning Finance Officer to join our Twinning Finance team on a part-time (30 hours per week) basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong financial administration skills who enjoys working with numbers, maintaining accurate records and providing excellent customer service. The role is central to ensuring that Twinning donations and payments are processed accurately and efficiently, helping to support our international partnerships and the important work they enable.
Working closely with the Twinning Officers and Finance team, you will be responsible for processing Twinning income and payments, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports and responding to finance-related enquiries. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that financial commitments are met on time and that all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journals from Twinning reports for posting into the accounting system.
- Process Twinning cheques received in the office.
- Allocate incoming donations and outgoing payments to the correct internal accounts.
- Reconcile bank statements on a weekly basis for standing orders, BACS payments and cheques.
- Update standing order instructions with the bank.
- Maintain Gift Aid declarations and provide information for annual Gift Aid claims.
- Prepare and distribute quarterly communications and financial reports for Twinning Officers.
- Support the production of quarterly reports for National Twinning Committee meetings.
- Set up overseas payments in multiple currencies through Bankline.
- Liaise with overseas Twinning partners regarding payments and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate payment records using shared spreadsheets and finance systems.
- Respond professionally to Twinning Finance enquiries by telephone, email and post.
- Attend annual Twinning Officer meetings, which may occasionally take place outside normal working hours.
About You
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of five GCSEs (Grade C/Grade 4 or above), including English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications.
- Experience working in a busy office environment with a strong focus on accurate data entry.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- The ability to analyse financial information and investigate discrepancies.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- A sympathetic understanding of the Christian aims and purposes of the Society and an ability to work respectfully with people of all faiths and none.
Desirable
- AAT Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent accountancy training).
- Experience working within the charity or voluntary sector.
- Experience of working within a branch-based organisation.
