About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Centre Assistant to support the day-to-day running of our centre. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will provide administrative support, deliver excellent customer service, and assist with activities that directly benefit the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to phone calls, emails and general enquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Provide excellent customer service to clients, visitors, partners and suppliers
- Undertake general administrative tasks including data entry, reports, filing and document preparation
- Support the coordination and distribution of food parcels and other requests for help
- Manage and organise donations, ensuring items are handled safely and efficiently
- Welcome visitors and ensure compliance with health & safety procedures
- Assist in the delivery of centre activities and community initiatives
- Support café, fundraising and income generation activities as required
- Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of the centre
- Promote the centre locally including via social media
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with policies and procedures
About You
Essential:
- Strong customer service and administrative experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Empathy and alignment with organisational values
Desirable:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Experience in the charity or voluntary sector
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals
- Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety procedures
- Experience supporting events or fundraising

This role may involve working with children and vulnerable individuals and would require an Enhanced DBS check.
