Svitzer operates one of the largest global fleets within harbour towage and is expanding its near coastal towage services in the UK. We are now seeking a Deckhand to join the Ormesby Cross, supporting safe and efficient towage operations in UK ports and around the UK coastline.

Key Responsibilities
As a Deckhand, you’ll play an integral role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the vessel. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with Planned Maintenance and maintaining the vessel’s cleanliness, safety standards, and equipment checks.
- Operating under the Master’s guidance to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Taking ownership of the vessel, including proactive involvement in safety and operational standards.
- Performing both deck and engine-related tasks as required, showcasing adaptability and teamwork.
- Undertaking mandatory training for personal and professional development.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking individuals with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a passion for maritime operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Able Seaman or Navigational Watch Rating Certificate, including EDH.
- Harbour, terminal or coastal towage experience.
- Valid ENG1 medical certificate and STCW Basic Safety Training, with at least 6 months validity.
- Full UK Driving Licence and the legal right to work in the UK.
Please also note that although Tyne is stated as the primary location for this operation, this is not fixed and so we welcome applications from candidates across the UK.
