Svitzer has one of the largest global fleets operating within harbour towage and are now looking to expand this offering within the UK into near coastal towage to supplement their current operations. If you have experience in sea or near coastal towage, then this could be the opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities

The Tug Master will be responsible for the efficient and safe operations and maintenance standard of SVITZER vessels.

Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Carrying out safe operations to assist ships and coastal towage operations in a responsible and timely manner.
  • Taking personal responsibility for ensuring a culture of safety is observed on board at all times, and that existing tools to achieve same are utilized by all persons on board.
  • Ensuring proper administration of all ship management activities on the vessel, including timely safety and operational reporting, keeping of appropriate records etc.
  • Liaising closely with Marine Managers, Harbour Pilots, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth planning and communication of all towage operations.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Minimum Master Experience with ASD propulsion.
  • Harbour/Terminal and Coastal towage experience essential.
  • Strong administrative/computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • UK Driving Licence.

Please provide a copy of ENG1 and COC with application. Please also note that although Tyne is stated as the primary location for this operation, this is not fixed and so we welcome applications from candidates across the UK. Working rotation for this role will be 2 weeks on/off living onboard the Ormesby Cross.
