Trailer Mechanical Design Engineer * Newly created role – working on innovative new products * Location: Braintree, Essex * Working: Hours: 40 hour week – 8.30 a.m. start * Competitive Salary negotiable depending on relevant experience * Own transport essential due to location * Relocation assistance / package available * Hybrid considered – 3 days office / 2 days home whilst relocating to area To be considered for this position, you will need to have proven experience in the design of trailers, vehicle transporters or low loaders. Our client is a heavy engineering manufacturing company, well established and market leader in their field. Job Role: The chosen candidate will be required to work on Design projects as part of a team and individually. Joining our small but busy team of Designers will mean the candidate will have to multitask over projects and carry out duties covering all functions of the Design Office. The design role will cover jobs from quick modifications to large scale Design Projects and R and D projects including creating all working drawings, assembly sketches and bills of materials. On occasion the candidate will be required to attend customer sites and car manufacturing plants to partake in loading trials to evaluate designs. This role will suit a highly motivated person who has a broad skill set and has excellent and effective communication skills. Candidate To succeed in this challenging role, the ideal candidate should have the following skill sets and qualifications: ¨ Degree/equivalent qualification or HNC and proven experience in Mechanical Engineering Design. ¨ Have current experience and the ability to design in Autocad 2D and Autodesk Inventor 3D format ¨ High level of computer literacy ¨ The ability to think innovatively and creative with a logical approach to problem solving ¨ Experienced in standard methods of steel component fabrications and good engineering practice and a sound knowledge of welded fabrications ¨ Validation of Design and specification ¨ Checking and approving of component and assembly drawings ¨ Set up manufacturing bills of materials and parts lists ¨ Create and issue engineering detail and assembly drawings for production release. ¨ Ability to calculate stresses and approve designs for manufacture (first principals is basic requirements) ¨ Technical reporting and tolerance analysis ¨ Be familiar with current C and U regulations and EU directives (Not essential) ¨ A good understanding of hydraulics, electrics, pneumatic systems and their installations. ¨ Ability to work well under pressure either alone or as part of a team.
