Workshop Engineer Location: Workshop-based, Essex Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am–5:00pm Salary: £35,000–£45,000 per year, depending on experience Requirements: Own tools and a full UK driving licence About the Role We are looking for an experienced Workshop Engineer to join a growing and well-established company. This is a predominantly workshop-based position, working within a modern, fully equipped facility and carrying out the servicing, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of plant and machinery. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, completing repairs and ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard before being returned to customers. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults across a wide range of plant and machinery. Carry out routine servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance. Complete PDI inspections and PAT testing where required. Carry out reactive repairs and fault finding on equipment brought into the workshop. Use computer diagnostic equipment to accurately identify faults. Strip down, repair and rebuild mechanical and hydraulic components where required. Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry best practice. Manage repairs effectively from initial diagnosis through to completion. Maintain accurate service records, job sheets and supporting documentation. Inspect equipment to identify additional repair or maintenance requirements. Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and to a consistently high standard. Work closely with colleagues to ensure repairs are completed efficiently and equipment is returned to customers promptly. Equipment You Will Work On Excavators Dumpers and dump trucks Crushers and screeners Wheeled loaders Skid-steer loaders Compaction equipment Disc cutters Generators and water pumps Lifting equipment Hydraulic attachments Hand tools Site cabins Skills and Experience * Previous experience working as a Plant Fitter, Workshop Engineer, Plant Engineer or similar. * Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. * Experience servicing and repairing plant, construction or heavy machinery. * Experience using computer diagnostic equipment. * The ability to confidently diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently. * Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills. * Excellent accuracy and attention to detail. * The ability to maintain clear and precise service documentation. * A reliable, flexible and team-focused approach. * The ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure. * A self-motivated approach and the ability to work independently. * Your own tools. * A full UK driving licence
