Technical Product Manager Location: Braintree Salary: c£40K Employment Type: Full-Time

Recruiting on behalf of a successful client, we are seeking a highly organised, technically minded and commercially focused Product Manager to join the Technical Department.

This role will be responsible for managing the company's large product portfolio, supporting the development and introduction of new products, improving existing ranges, maintaining accurate product data, and ensuring that all product information is structured, complete, compliant and commercially effective.

This is a critical role within the business, sitting between Technical, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Senior Management.

The role requires someone who can combine technical understanding with strong communication, data management, project discipline and commercial awareness.

Candidate Profile

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in product management, technical product support, product data management or a similar role.
  • Experience within the electrical industry, manufacturing, engineering, construction products or technical distribution.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to understand electrical or engineered products.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly around product data, specifications and documentation.
  • Experience managing product information, product records or structured data.
  • Ability to work across multiple departments and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of customer requirements.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Teams.
  • Ability to manage projects through defined stages, deadlines and approval points.
  • Proactive, disciplined and comfortable taking ownership of important business processes.

Technical Knowledge The ideal candidate should have a practical understanding of technical products, ideally gained from one or more of the following:

Previous employment within the electrical, engineering, construction, manufacturing or technical distribution sectors.

Experience working with electrical products or technical product ranges.

Technical education, apprenticeship or engineering-related qualification.

Product data, technical documentation or compliance experience.

Hands-on understanding of how products are selected, installed, specified or sold through the electrical wholesale channel.

The candidate does not need to be a fully qualified electrician or engineer, but they must be comfortable working with technical information and confident liaising with technical colleagues, suppliers and commercial teams

Qualifications Essential

GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent.

Relevant experience in product management, technical support, engineering, manufacturing, electrical products or product data management.

Desirable

Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in engineering, product design, business, marketing, electrical installation, manufacturing or a related subject.

Electrical, technical or engineering qualification.

Project management qualification or relevant project experience.

Product management, data management or digital systems training.

AI, digital transformation or data-related training
