Purpose of Role
We are looking for an Electrical Wirer to join a busy workshop-based manufacturing team. This role would suit someone with previous hands-on electrical wiring, assembly, or panel building experience. Candidates from similar wiring backgrounds such as refrigeration, HVAC, machinery, control panels, electrical assembly, vehicle electrics, or industrial equipment may be suitable. The role will involve wiring, assembling, and testing electrical panels and associated equipment, working from drawings and wiring diagrams to ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical wiring and assembly work on low-voltage panels and associated equipment.
- Build, wire, and test distribution boards, MCCB panel boards, and similar electrical assemblies.
- Read and work from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Select, check, and prepare components and materials required for each job.
- Cut, crimp, terminate, and connect cables using hand tools and crimping tools.
- Assemble wiring looms and electrical components.
- Carry out basic electrical testing, including continuity, insulation resistance, and functional checks.
- Identify and resolve wiring or assembly issues during the build process.
- Maintain accurate production and test records.
- Follow health and safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Work independently when required, while also supporting the wider team.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested.
Experience and Skills Required
Essential
- Previous hands-on electrical wiring or electrical assembly experience.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic electrical tools.
- Ability to follow drawings, diagrams, instructions, or build sheets.
- Good attention to detail.
- Reliable, practical, and willing to learn.
- Ability to work accurately to deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience wiring panels, control panels, refrigeration units, HVAC equipment, machinery, vehicles, industrial equipment, or similar.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, workshop, or production environment.
- 18th Edition or other electrical qualifications would be beneficial but are not essential.
