The predicted salary is between 500 - 1500 £ per month.
This is a critical strategic role with responsibility for helping to set budgets, financial reporting, supporting fundraising activities, and drafting the annual accounts. Your expertise will help with the successful delivery of current activities, and sustain our plans for the future.
As a Trustee with excellent financial skills you can help support our board as we continue to plan and deliver relevant activities for our local community. SACCO aims to help people of African and Caribbean heritage of all ages to participate more fully in the local community, through a range of enrichment activities, delivered from an African and Caribbean perspective. SACCO aspires to build bridges across the culturally diverse communities in Sutton and the surrounding areas, by organising events and activities where people from all backgrounds and races can come together to celebrate, share and learn about each other in mutual respect. Our work was recognised locally as Winners of the Sutton Community Award 2023 for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

What will you be doing?
- Work with Office Manager who is responsible for paying invoices, organising receipts and payments of the charity and volunteer expenses.
- Manage Bank accounts and restricted funds account in consultation with the rest of the Board and Committee.
- Support Office Manager to ensure Xero or other appropriate financial systems for record keeping are kept up-to-date and financial records are kept for the appropriate length of time for access to Independent Examiner.
- Process gift aid claims and HMRC documentation.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of SACCO and give an annual financial report to the AGM.
- File returns to the Charity Commission and ensure the charity complies with accounting policies and regulations.
- Arrange for Annual independent examination of the accounts prior to AGM.
- Attend committee meetings. These run monthly; we typically expect attendance at 6-8 per year, virtual and occasional face-to-face meetings if possible.
- Ensure Insurance Liability and other standard payments are received and renewed.
- As a Trustee contribute ideas for income generation.
- Attend Trustee meetings.
- Commit to organisational learning and continuous improvement by attending relevant training and performance management.
